Regardless of the location, it’s about capturing the love, the little moments and gestures that you share that create your authentic intimacy. It’s a chance to capture the memories of the love and admiration shared for each other.
WHEN?
We often schedule the session two days after your wedding date. That way you have time to sleep in and relax the day after the wedding and be with your guests or just yourselves.
GOLDEN HOUR
Golden hour – the period just after sunrise or just before sunset – makes for the best images. Your images will stand out thanks to this warm, dreamy, light glow. There’s a reason why this hour is also called the “magic hour.” The low angled light can add a bit of drama or romance to your portraits. It is also usually a quieter time on a busy resort especially at sunrise.
BEACH
If the desired location for your honeymoon session is the resorts beach, then the ideal time is sunrise. Other than the few early risers, the beach is guaranteed to be free of guests. This will definitely give you privacy and allow you to feel more relaxed, even though its an early start to the day! This is the easiest and most common location for a destination session. However, if the beach at the resort is not “the one”, no problem, the islands are full of beautiful beaches. With some research and scouting, we will find one that fills your vision. In terms of attire, you can choose to wear your wedding clothes again, although keep in mind they might get dirty and wet, or dress more casual and beachy to set the romantic tone.
EXCURSION
If the beach theme doesn’t appeal to you consider an excursion session. Destination weddings often happen at beautiful resorts and many of these offer adventure or tour options off-site or on the water. This is definitely something you wouldn’t have time for on the day of your wedding! Or maybe schedule a day trip into the local town or city. Have your photographer follow you there to capture you in a more casual setting. This will showcase your destination and capture a more rounded memory of your wedding vacation, your personalities and your start as a married couple.
