So you’ve hired a lifestyle photographer to shoot your engagement photos, pregnancy photos, baby photos, or family fun photos for the first time and aren’t sure what to expect. It’s normal! It’s not often that most of us hire a Burlington photographer to take photographs of our own lives! Your lifestyle photographer will absolutely walk you through everything ahead of the shoot, but here’s a few things to keep in mind with Burlington photographers.
Make sure you choose a location that is peaceful and one that you are familiar with. You want the location to have meaning after all. If you are planning to enjoy some Burlington family photography for example, perhaps you’d like to shoot in Spencer Smith Park, where your family loves to spend time on warm days. Or perhaps you’d like to shoot at home in your new baby’s room as you’ve decorated it just for them and you feel most comfortable there. Wherever you decide, Burlington photographers are flexible and are happy to shoot where you are happy!
Again, depending on the style of the shoot, what you should wear for a lifestyle photographer shoot can vary. If you are doing a photoshoot with your family, make sure you are coordinated, but not all matching. Avoid white clothes especially if you are shooting outside (and perhaps an extra set of clothes in the car for the kids isn’t the worst idea!) You should also avoid shirts with large logos or images on them as they can distract from your faces. If you are a couple doing an engagement shoot, again make sure you are coordinated and comfortable, but not matching. Accessories like scarves, hats, and gloves can be great additions to the shoot and add some personality, so feel free to bring these along for cooler outdoor shoots in the spring or fall.
If you’d love to be in a summer dress with the sun shining brightly on you and your new fiance during the photoshoot, don’t book in the early spring or late fall. Most people cannot hide their true emotions during a photoshoot and you want the shoot to bring back fond memories, not ones of you freezing and trying not to show your teeth chattering! Dressing for the weather is key to a fun, relaxing day, so check the weather and have a few outfits ready for that morning.
