Tell us a little about yourself?

I am an ambitious, creative and self motivated and love to travel and experience new adventures. My greatest loves are my children

and the joy of seeing their laughter and accomplishments. Always up for spending time with family, friends and meeting new people.

How do you think or would like people to describe you?

I would hope to be described as nurturing, honest and loyal.

Tell us a little bit about the wedding day?

Mike & Meghan’s Wedding took place in the core of Toronto. Mike’s coverage started off in a modern condo while Meghan got ready

at the Trump Hotel. They had a beautiful ceremony at a Catholic church, followed by scheduled photos at the University of Toronto.

Despite the traffic and road blocks along the way, the couple remained relaxed and had fun. They were very easy going, which made

our day fly by smoothly and focus on capturing the day as it was unfolding.

How did you get into wedding photography?

I realized that I had a true passion for wedding photography with my own journey of finding the perfect photographer for our wedding day.

Something inspired me when looking through various photography portfolios and thus, realized that this is the path I should follow.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 4

How long have you been a wedding photographer?

Just over 10 years.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 5

Can you share how you’ve made your wedding photography business a success? Any mistakes you made along the way?

Believing in yourself and your work. Not cutting yourself short or doubting yourself. Setting expectations and staying on top of them.

Staying motivated and inspired.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 6

What do you think a bride or groom should be looking for and not looking for in terms of wedding photography packages?

Every couple is different. Some already have an idea of their perfect package, but most really do not know what they want and need.

I believe custom packages, flexibility, good quality product options, and no hidden fees are key when discussing wedding photography packages.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 7

How do you advertise yourself and what for you has really worked?

I would say that referrals are the most powerful. They usually come from a previous couple, a wedding party attendant, or a guest.

I have also found networking to be a very successful and valuable tool. I network with various wedding vendors, fellow photographers,

and local businesses.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 8

Why do you think people hire you?

I would hope that my enthusiasm, drive and passion for my work is clearly evident when meeting with new and potential couples.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 9

How many weddings do you average per year?

I shoot about 15-20 weddings a year.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 10

Whose wedding would you love to shoot?

No one specific, just couples in love.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 11

If you were asked to shoot a destination wedding, where would you hope it would be?

During my career I have had the opportunity to shoot many destination weddings. There are 2 that I am secretly waiting for, Bora Bora

and the Grand Canyon. Keeping my fingers crossed. 😉

Anna Kobelak Photography image 12

What equipment do you have for a typical wedding day?

I shoot with 2 Nikon bodies, D600 & D700. A number of lenses, 24-70mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 105mm f2.8, 10-20mm f2.8, 70-200mm f2.8 and

off camera flash units SB800, SB600.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 13

What is the most challenging thing about a wedding.

Finding parking in busy downtown locations.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 14

Do you have an approach to a wedding?

My goal is for the couple to have a stress free wedding day and enjoy every moment of it. To accomplish that at least from the photography

aspect, I have learned that pre-planning in extremely important. We review the couple’s photography needs and what they can expect from

their photo coverage. We come up with a schedule, backup plans for a rainy day, list of formal family portraits, etc. We leave no question or

possibility unanswered. Therefore, when the day finally arrives, we can let loose and have fun.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 15

Who or what inspires you?

I’m inspired throughout the wedding day by the anticipation, raw emotions, the feel, and the love shared between the couple.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 16

Best & Worst marketing idea so far?

Worst marketing idea for me were wedding shows, there are just too many of us there.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 17

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be?

Definitely something in the travel industry.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 18

Share your favourite image of the day and why?

I love this image simply because it’s a great candid shot. It’s urban, contemporary and fun.

Do you have any goals for the future photography related or otherwise?

To continuously grow as an artist, learn, travel and explore.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 20

What do you think is key to being a successful wedding photographer?

It depends on your definition of success. To me success is not based on the number of weddings booked per year but with the care provided to each wedding. I stand behind high quality products, ongoing client communication, and most importantly client satisfaction.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 21

Are there any other wedding photographers whose work inspires you, can be a well know photographer or somebody you’ve stumbled across?

To name a few; Yervant Zanazanian, Jeff Ascough and Martins Kikulis.I am really inspired by photographers with an artistic and reportage approach and their ability not only to document a special moment but to enhance it with the right lighting to feel the mood and raw emotion of the moment captured.

Anna Kobelak Photography image 22

Proudest moment so far. Photography related or otherwise?

I feel proud every time a Bride is brought to tears after seeing her wedding album.
